Good afternoon guys, I don't know what Warren did today down in Carrillo but yesterday he had seven sailfish and one marlin. Here in Flamingo Good Dog had had six sail fish and and a lot of dorado today. Very little wind so we are enjoying some good fishing days. My son Freddy is leaving tonight for Quepos with two boats. We don't hear much out of Quepos very few boats are going out. We start fishing this Sunday so as soon as the boats get back I will have a report from Quepos for you. Thank you. Fred
Good afternoon all. This is a great friday. The weather is great just a little bit of wind. All boats going off shore are are getting hit by the marlin, and not to far offshore, they are picking them up in about 300 ft of water. Any anglers who have fished Flamingo in the past know that is pretty close to shore. All boats are releasing two to three marlin per day in the 300 to 500 lb range, and some boats are hooking up to six marlin. Great things in Carrillo just marlin, marlin and more marlin. Capt. Warren reports releasing three to four marlin every day this week down in Carrillo. Now is the time for any of you tough fishermen who want to fight a big fish , the time is now. Any angler wishing to know the current status of the fishing or the weather can call me at 215 395 6373 it's a free call for you. We are sending one or two boats down to Quepos this Sunday. The fishing is still a little slow but the are starting to see a few sail fish down there. I will be back soon. Thank you. Fred
Good afternoon. It's a beautiful day here in Flamingo and the fishing is just as good. Only good news today, yesterday CrazY DOG had two for three marlin releases, one sail and five dorado in the 35 to 40 lb range. Wild Dog had four marlin on the hook, couldnot keep them on the hook and lost them all, but had a good dorado day.Just received a call from Warren down in Carrillo our boat Bad Dog had two blue marlin releases already this morning. Carrillo will probably be a real hot spot for marlin within the next two weeks. The wind is still holding for us here in Flamingo and we only lost two days of fishing so far this month due to the wind. There was six boats fishing out of Flamingo yesterday and all had at least two marlin. This marlin fishing is usually this good or better till the end of March. Thank you and will report soon. Fred
Good morning, good morning every one. Well yesterday Crazy Dog had 3 for 6 marlin releases, sailfish and big dorado. GOOD dog and wild Dog had almost as good a day. From now to the next 10 weeks you can predict any boat fishing out of Flamingo will catch marlin. All boats are releasing sailfish but the big body of sails will arrive after March. The bottom fishing for grouper and snapper is as good as it could get or as many as you can reel in. Bad Dod is leaving for Carrillo in two days with Capt. Warren Sellers. Warren has fished the entire coast since 1974 and started then in Tamarindo. We expect a great year this year in Carrillo. If you want that big one come on down. Thank you. Fred
Good morning everyone. The new year is only two days away, and the fishing looks good for 2008 season. As expected the marlin are here. The water is clean with a lot of bait in the water and January February and March have always been the good marlin months. For the past several weeks all of our charters have released marlin along with a few sailfish. We don"t expect much sailfish action until after March. The weather is holding good so far, no rain and very little wind. We expect the wind to increase before the end of January and the 31 ft boats have a difficult time fishing very far off shore. Our larger boat "Scorpion" has never missed a day fishing due to the wind. Early in January we will send our boat "Mad Dog" south to Corrillo where there is very little wind and the sailfishing is very good. By the second or third week in January we will send two of our boats down to Quepos. The end of January and February are the hot sailfish months. My son Freddy just returned from Quepos and reported they are starting to see some marlin action. The inshore fishing off Flamingo has been good. Two of our boats went bottom fishing last week each boat boated 40 plus grouper in the 4 to 6 lb range. Yesterday Crazy Dog fished a half day and came back with 17 Grouper in the 25 to 40 lb range. As you can guess I'm eating grouper twice a day. The rooster fishing is good and this is right along the shore line so you have no wind problem. Now that the season is starting I will report more often. Thank you. Fred
Good morning all you fishermen. I had to come up here to Pennsylvania for a few days and boy is it cold. Well, since my last report the fishing has changed, all that dirty water we had is gone and the nice blue water is here. All month our boats are hooking up marlin on every charter and we are also getting a lot of big dorado 50+ lbs. Yesterday I talked to my son Freddy in Flamingo and he reported the Bad Dog came back at noon time and had two black marlin two sailfish and some big dorado. Crazy Dog had a grand slam a blue marlin, black marlin and stripe marlin and a lot of dorado. Wild Dog and Good Dog also had marlin , sailfish, doradr and tunas. The marlin fishing should improve right through Jan, Feb and March. Januarry usually is the start of the windy season and at times the smaller boats can not go very far off shore. For myself I have had my best marlin days with 6 to 8 ft seas. The nice thing about the Pacific is there is no chop and many times I have been out there in 40 to 50 knot winds. In January we will send a boat 60 miles south to Corrillo where there is very little wind and in February two boats will go down to Quepos when the sailfish season starts. If any of you anglers want marlin now is the time in Flamingo, just call the airline and order your ticket. I will be in Flamingo in a few days and will post some pictures of the anglers. Thank you and will talk to you soon. Fred
Good morning every one. My son ,Freddy and I just returned from Miami after 10 days, we went to the Ft. Lauderdale boat show.Last week Oct. 28 and 29th four of our boats fished both days and they had a total of 48 sailfish and 16 marlin and with a lot of dorado big ones. Our boats that fished Nov. 1,2,3and 4th all had a minimum 7 sails and each boat had 1 or 2 marlin . Yesterday one boat that called in,not our boat, had 17 sailfish releases and one marlin. Our boats that are fishing north find a lot of dorado in the 50lb size with good sailfishing also. Our report from Quepos and south is the fishing is not good.We got a little north wind today which means ,I hope, very little rain and a lot of son. This year the marlin bite is a little early, it usually starts in December but now we hope it will only get better. We should have a good season this year. If anyone would like call me for a fishing report the number is 215-395 6373, it's a US number and it's patched to me here in costa rica. Thank you. Fred
Good morning readers. Fishing is a little slow , but if you want to do some inshore fishing it's fair or compared to Florida or New Jersey I think you can consider the fishing here pretty good. Bad Dog went fishing up at the Bat Islands and landed 8 nice wahoo to 45lbs. You can see Cheryls picture with two nice ones she brought home for dinner on Gallery # 1. she also had 12 dorado and 3 small tunas and she came back early, not bad for a Sunday morning. Crazy Dog fished the Catalina Island yesterday with 4 wahoo and 12 yellowfin tunas . The tuna is 25 to 35 lbs. We have always said October is our slowest month, but as you can see it's not that slow. The fishing south is very slow, the boys in Quepos tell us the rain is so hard that boats are not going out. The same down in Golfito. The good news is in just four more weeks the rain will be gone. We will have boats in Quepos in January and we also expect to have a boat in Carillo this year. So come on down and we will try for that big one. Thank you. Fred
Good morning everyone. Bad weather , a lot of rain. Cheryl James from Upper Black Eddy, PA went bottom fishing on the good dog yesterday and brought back 4 nice red snapper 20 to 25 lbs. You can see her pic in our picture gallery 1 . Crazy Dog did just as good on snapper in the morning and then went a little off shore and landed 5 nice dorado, the largest about 50lbs. With the rain nobody wanted to go the next 10 to 12 miles looking for marlin, but we know they are there.. Thank you again, till next report. Fred
Good morning all you fishermen. With all this rain our boats have not gone off shore very far, but this past weekend two of our boats fished the catalina islands. The wahoo are in this month, on Saturday Crazy Dod hooked up 18 wahoo and boated 9. He lost 9 because the mate did not use wire on all the lures. Good Dog boated 7 wahoo early in the morning and then went looking for dorado or tuna. They found a school of small dorado 5 to 8 lbs and boated 16 dorado. Both boats fished Sunday and the action was about the same The rain usually starts about 3:00 PM and our boats try to return before the heavy rain arrives. It makes for a short day but the boats try to leave early, 5:00 AM if the anglers are up and ready. We do not expect to do much fishing until November but if we do I will report . Thank you. Fred
As expected we are getting a little rain every day and a lot of rain some days. We only had a few charters this past week and two of our boats that went off shore did release several sailfish and one boat had two marlin releases. The water is very dirty inshore and we have done very little rooster fishing but bottom fishing in the 100 to 300ft range is very good, plenty of snapper and grouper. We don't expect to do much fishing for the next several weeks due to the weather. October is the worst month for rain and we use this time to get our boats in shape for next season. In November the rain is finished and we get that nice blue water back and the fish with it. Thank you. Fred
We have had some large rain storms this past week and all the dirty warter coming out of the Golfo de Nicoya travels north with the current and arrives here a day or two later. The fish are still here, we just have to go off shore a few more miles to find the blue water.Monday Bad Dog had two sails and a nice marlin and some dorado, Scorpion on the same day loaded up on dorado about 18 nice size. Good D0og fishing north Tuesday and Wednesday had no bill fish but had a lot of dorado and tuna. The Scorpion just called in , he is fishing half-day in shore and reported 3 nice wahoo. We expect more rain this month and a lot of rain in October. If we want marlin we will probably have to go 35 to 40 miles off shore to look for the clean water. The fish are there we just have to find them. Thank you . Fred
Good morning anglers, it's 4AM in the morning this Saturday August 18th and I plan to go fishing in an hour or so. Yesterday our target was sailfish because our anglers wanted to do some fly fishing. Our boat Good Dog had six sailfish releases and the Bad Dog had nine sails. The marlin are still here just a little further west in deeper water. We expect the bill fishing to stay good thru September. Inshore fishing is good rooster fish, snapper and grouper are being caught in good numbers and size. My favorite dinner is grouper and this past week I have had grouper prepared five different ways. Until my next report, thank you. Fred
Thursday August 16 2007. A nice day no rain and a flat sea. Our boat Good Dog hooked up a 500+ lb black marlin early and released it four hours later. The problem was it was hooked on a 30lb reel and line. Bad Dog fishing the same area released a 300lb blue marlin and a stripe marlin. All boats are seeing and releasing several sailfish every day, but the good news is the marlin are staying with us. Still plenty of dorado and small tuna around. Quite a few wahoo were taken during the last few weeks. Until my next report , thank you Fred
Good morning all you fishermen. This is August 8 and our rain season is starting, it rains every day for about one hour just enough to cool everything off. Well as I said in my last report the billfishing is getting better. All the boats looking for marlin are having good luck. Most of the marlin are blue marlin in the 500lb + range. The sailfish are here in good numbers, our boats are releasing six to eight sailfish a day. A lot of dorado are mixed in with the sailfish and you can expect to boat 6-8 dorado per trip. We are still waiting for our large yellow fin tuna to show up, but we do catch quite a few of the 20 to 30lb tunas. Inshore fishing is always good for rooster fish and if you go to our photo gallery you will see a picture of Fred Jr on August 5 with a 30 lb. corvina which in Florida is called a sea trout and in the north east it is called a weak fish. A 30 lb weak fish in New Jersey would win the Cape May tournament. Thank you. Fred
